karaoke, evil androids, love
I thought I was done playing video games... then my new roommate showed up with a Wii, curiosity led me down a dark path (as usual), and the penguin said 'SLIDE'. Before I know it I am looking for my 63rd power star on super mario galaxy at one in the morning
But this isn't about learning to love the video game again. They are awesome. I am not ashamed.
We can learn a lot from children. Their innocence is envied, and their hope captured in writings time immemorial. But there are experiences that children do not typically go through, yet it would be neat to imagine what the innocent perception of such a situation might be.
That why we have evil supercomputers. So advanced as to equate – decimal by decimal – the largest of puzzles in nanoseconds, yet approach every human problem with a childish and selfish reaction which usually ends in much grief. A machine like this amounts to a supergenius toddler – which knows how to kill you. HAL 9000, Skynet, that huge tower in Superman 3… we love to be scared of them.
Yet there's one thing we never think to do… asking what their feelings are after we kill them. If you like karaoke (you know you do), enjoy this sing along with my new favorite evil robot. If you haven't played the video game Portal, you are really missing out. Find a friend with a 360, it's THAT good
I happen to enjoy a good love song… what happens when you kill the evil AI construct that was trying to take over your underground super secret weapons research lab and tried to squeeze you too hard until your thorns came out? When you saw through her false promises of "freedom" and "cake"? You perceive hurt words, the salvation of a lesson learned… and perhaps the infant seeds of revenge… like a child
Ok… gotta get back to Mario (and count how many times I used the word "yet" above...)
